Kulthorn Kirby was the first hermetic compressor manufacturer in Thailand, established with Thailand’s Board of Investment promotion in 1980. The company was officially opened on January 13, 1982, with the initial production output of over 100,000 compressors in the first year of operation. Later, the production capacity was expanded to 5,500,000 units/year, of Thailand with 500 million Baht registered capital and in 2013, registered capital was increased to 1/200 billion.

Kulthorn Kirby specializes in the manufacture of hermetic reciprocating compressors for domestic refrigerators, commercial refrigeration systems and air conditioners. We believe in our vision, which is to be the producer of best quality, world standard products that best meet our customers’ needs. With our concern for the environment and for meeting relevant safety standards, Kulthorn Kirby compressors are approved to many international performance and safety standards such as CE, UL, TUV, CCC, SASO and TISI.

  • 1980

    THE JOURNEY

    Kulthorn Kirby Co., Ltd. Kulthorn International is established.

  • 1981

    AE SERIES

    Production of Kulthorn’s KB compressor series begins on August 8.

  • 1982

    GRAND OPENING

    Kulthorn’s manufacturing plant celebrates its grand opening and start of production.

  • 1987

    MOTORS

    Kulthorn Electric, a joint venture between Kulthorn and the U.S. firm MagneTek Universal Electric, is founded.

  • 1988

    ROTARY

    A joint venture between Kulthorn Group and Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industry creates Thai Compressor Manufacturing (THACOMM) to manufacture rotary air conditioner compressors.

  • 1989

    FOUNDRY & AZ SERIES

    The company establishes its own iron casting subsidiary, Kulthorn Kirby Foundry. Production of AZ small refrigerator compressors begins.

  • 1990

    KMC & TSP

    Kulthorn Group enters a joint venture with Japan’s Hitachi Powder Company to produce powdered metal components for compressors and other equipment. The company establishes Kulthorn Materials & Controls to build thermostats and magnetic copper wires.

  • 1991

    STOCK EXCHANGE

    Kulthorn Kirby (KKC) is listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand.

  • 1993

    KM SERIES

    Production of KM hermetic motor compressors and non-chlorofluorocarbon compressors begins..

  • 1998

    CERTIFICATION

    Kulthorn earns CE, CB, and ISO 9002 1994 certification. Simac City is established

  • 2000

    CERTIFICATION

    Kulthorn adds ISO 14001 1996 certification.

  • 2001

    WJ SERIES & CERTIFICATION

    Kulthorn begins production of its WJ compressor series. The company becomes certified in ISO 9001 2000 and OHSAS 18001 1999 and UL approved.

  • 2004

    NEW BEGINNING

    Kulthorn and Premier Group purchases the Sanyo Compressor Factory in Kabinburi, Thailand. Kulthorn terminates its 24-year agreement with U.S. compressor manufacturer.

  • 2005

    CERTIFICATION

    Kulthorn adds certifications in ISO 17025 1999 and 14001 2004.

  • 2006

    RECORD

    Kulthorn manufactures its 20 millionth compressor.

  • 2007

    STEEL PRODUCTION

    The company establishes Kulthorn Steel to ensure supplies of steel coils are available for its subsidiaries

  • 2008

    KA & LA SERIES

    Kulthorn begins production of its KA and LA compressor lines

  • 2009

    CA SERIES

    Kulthorn begins production of its CA compressor lines.

  • 2010

    MAGNET WIRE

    Kulthorn produces its 30 millionth compressor and 5 millionth AW compressor. Kulthorn is named Company of the Year and earns the Golden (Thailand 5S) Award by the Technology Promotion Association. The company establishes the Kulthorn Magnet Wire Company.

  • 2011

    CERTIFICATION

    Kulthorn becomes ISO/IEC 26000 certified. Kulthorn serves as consultant and project manager for the establishment of Green Point Siam, a service center for Bitzer compressors.

  • 2012

    30 YEARS

    Kulthorn Kirby Public Company celebrates 30 years in business on January 13.

  • 2013

    AWARDS

    Several awards and recognitions come Kulthorn’s way: Thailand’s Non-CFC award; the Our Skills, Our Future award; and a Level 2 Hearing Conservation in the Establishment award from the Ministry of Public Health. Kulthorn receives its ISO/IEC 17025 2005 certification.

    RECORD

    Kulthorn’s 40 millionth compressor rolls on the assembly line.

  • 2016

    R & D

    Kulthorn Research & Development is established.

  • 2018

    BRISTOL & RECORD

    Kulthorn acquired Bristol Compressor Technology. The 100 millionth Kulthorn compressor is produced.
